After the storm....again

As you can see, we got more snow today, but no where near what they were predicting. Ken's formula of take what they predict, divide by 2 and add 1 is just about right for today. I'd say around 6 inches. Yup, and they were predicting 10-14. You do the math.

The hot tub will need some cleaning off before we can enjoy it. Probably not tonight, but hopefully tomorrow.

What a difference some rain makes!

Well, first we got snow, and then we got rain. You can see how much snow we lost just over the past couple days. Almost looks like green grass out there.

And the hot tub is all cleared off, too. However, nothing stays the same for very long. Another 8-10 inches of snow and ice are in the forecast for tomorrow. Will it ever end? I guess March is coming in like a lion. Maybe we'll have an early and long summer to make up for all this white stuff.
Gram and Gramp, sorry I didn't have a chance to take any new pictures of the kids. Maybe this week they'll be here for a visit.

The Weather in Maine

Just want to show you what happened last night. And it's still snowing and blowing this morning.
Lot's of shoveling ahead. Ian has been here already and opened up the driveway so I can go to work. Ken's work today will involve the snowblower. March should bring less of this.

Valentine flowers

I received some flowers for Valentine's Day, and I just had to try some funky things with the pictures. Here is one of the carnations, a regular shot.
And here is the same picture, but enlarged and zoomed in on the center. You can really see the color patterns. Amazing!

Here is a solid color carnation.....

...and by using some of the tools in the program, you can make a kaleidoscope pattern. Fun to play with, and interesting results.

More grandchildren pictures

Well, here are a few more pictures of the grandchildren. It was a computer night, as each one was on a different computer. Corey found a website that had songs and games for the kids, and they all sang and played.
Love that "Cheese" for the camera!

Dawson and Papa play with blocks.

They are coming over today for a visit so I should have some more pictures to post later today. We are going to make a pot of beef stew, and hunker down for the big snow storm. I really don't want more snow, but my requests for changes in the weather have been ignored all winter long. Spring WILL be here soon!

Monday, February 9, 2009

There is just something about little ones, all bundled up in their winter coats and hats.

Lexy wanted Papa and Daddy to get in the photo, too, even though they didn't have their coats on.
Look at those dimples! And what a smile.

Do you think this is a happy kid?

And she definitely looks happy, too.

Another great evening with the family. We also made a call to Great Grammie and Great Grampa Dow in Florida. They all talked for a while. Makes spring a little closer, doesn't it. Lexy said after she hung up that she really misses them. Me too!

Sunday, February 8,2009

We had an afternoon "Thirsty Thursday" on Sunday with our friends. We shared laughs, drinks, and food, and then had a comical round of bowling on the Wii. What a hoot!!! Here, Ken is giving instructions while other players watch with great interest. Or are they nodding off, it's hard to tell!
Sue demonstrates some finer points of the art of delivering a virtual bowling ball. She has some fine techniques.
These are some of the players in Sundays tournament.
Dan, Susie, Tom, and John. Don't they look just like them? C'mon, use your imagination!
