As we started out for home, we had to stop and try to capture the true beauty that is around us. We live in an area with no view, so to stand in one spot and be able to see so much, is just breathtaking for me. This doesn't really capture the color, but hopefully you can grasp the depth and distance that one can see.Sunday, October 10, 2010
Breathtaking views....

We ventured to the western mountains of Maine for a gorgeous fall wedding. We awoke Saturday morning to this visitor right outside our front door. It was a bit confused and looking for it's mother, but it stayed around for a few minutes before rambling off into the woods. I saw a total of 6 moose! Don't think I have seen that many in my entire life!
Gavin had the pleasure of riding with the father of the groom in this classic 1930 LaSalle. It was too cold for the bride and her party to ride all the way to the church, so they were picked up a bit closer to the church.
Gavin and Jen....do you suppose they got any ideas from this weekend?
Ken and me, in front of this huge, beautiful, trio of fireplaces. The place was lovely, in a perfect fall setting in the mountains of Maine. Just wonderful.Tuesday, October 5, 2010
On a personal note....
Today I reached a milestone for me. I have officially, on the weight watcher scales, lost 40 pounds. I have struggled with being over weight just about all my life. When I met Ken and fell in love, I dropped some weight, and weighed the least I ever was (in my adult life.) After gaining weight year after year, to a total of 100 pounds in 30 years, I decided my health HAS to be more important to me. My priority HAS to be getting the weight off. I guess I never made myself be the top priority. With a marriage, kids, jobs (the one I get paid for and the one I do when I leave the paid job), and now grandchildren, I never put me first. After much thought, and many pounds, I decided to join WW again, but make it work. And it does! Forty pounds in 32 weeks. Awesome! I am on my way. I have always considered my weight my one failure in life. Well, I am working on no failures! No more! I know I still have more to lose, and I will, but for now, I feel awesome. I can buy clothes in the regular department, not WOMEN'S or PLUS sizes. Now if I could only figure out how to make my feet smaller.....anyway. I experienced a great feeling today, and I don't want it to fade. I hope the determination stays with me, and the support continues. I can do this!

One Afternoon

We hardly ever pass up the chance to have the
grandchildren for an afternoon. This week, I got to get 3 of them at school. I don't know who was more excited! They all walked up to their great grandparents and got Brooklynn, and then convinced Pap
a that they wanted to see the pond that their father used to go to out back. Armed with the camera, Papa and the 4 kids headed out the back door.
They each took turns taking the picture. They all did pretty well, and the light was just perfect.

Dawson not only lost his first tooth this past week, but his second as well. He has a cute little lisp and whistle now, but as the bigger teeth come in, I'm sure that will subside. Time marches on.

First Day of School
The first day of school. It was a warm day, record breaking here in Maine. But the kids were so excited. Even Brooklynn, although she really didn't understand that her 3 older siblings would be gone for the day. They were all in their new clothes, smiles on their faces, and ready to start back to the school schedule.Kloe is ready for first grade. She was ready, and said she really loved her first day!

Dawson started kindergarten this year. He was most excited to ride the bus. And his 2 big sisters were there to help him.
Where did those babies go? Lexy is maturing way too fast. She still likes to cuddle in my lap occasionally, but with her long legs, it's hard to get my arms around all of her. But you can bet, I try my hardest!
Catching Frogs

I think our grandchildren are having lots more fun than our kids had as children. Or maybe we just have more time to watch them enjoying themselves. They have a small pond out back, and Lexy has become quite the frog catcher. She really likes the big bull frogs, but on this day, she only caught 3 little ones. I love the way the sky is reflecting on the surface of the water.

Smiles all around. They certainly love being outside.
Fall Birthdays

We celebrated 4 birthdays one evening. The boys and their girlfriends all have birthdays with in 7 weeks of each other, so we had an "adult" evening to celebrate. We enjoyed not only each others' company, but also a wonderful meal, cake and ice cream, and watching some deer come out to eat. I would never pass up an opportunity to have a visit with the grandchildren, but this was a wonderful evening. Happy Birthday all!
