Last night, we experienced a lunar eclipse, the earth came between the sun and the moon. It was an incredible sight. We really wished Dawson could have seen it, but it was way past his bedtime. He really enjoys looking for the moon. (Thanks to his grandfather!) I tried to capture some of the eclipse with my little digital camera. You can see how bright the moon seems before the total eclipse. A while later, the moon got very red, and very eerie. We never saw it when it was totally black, but these 2 pictures were awesome. We enjoyed watching it from the hottub.

Foggy Monday in Maine
No pictures of the grandchildren as we didn't see them this weekend. However, I experimented with some pictures of roses that I got for valentine's day from a dear, special friend. This was done with my little digital camera on close up with very little light in the room. Then I use a program to make a kalidescope effect. Interesting. The roses are beautiful, with just hints of red on the outer petals. Amazing what you can do with a computer, isn't it?

This Weekend
This is a picture that Alexys drew for us on Saturday. We had the 3 kids while Corey helped Amanda move. It has Papa, Dawson, Mammie, Alexys, and Brooklynn in it. Notice that the magnets are the same colors as the picture. She picked them out to match.
Then she had Papa write out this so she could write it on a new piece of paper. We are not exactly sure what she was doing, but I think she was recognizing that we were thanking her for doing such a nice picture for us to hang on the refridgerator.
Some new pictures of the kids. Dawson has his bowl on his foot. Brooklynn is drinking out of a sippy cup (sometimes) and Lexy has on a dress that was mine when I was a kid. She is pretending that she is little red riding hood, with her basket of goodies to take to Grandma's. They have been riding this little red bicycle around and around and around. They are very good about taking turns. However, my walls have a black mark just about 3 feet high all the way around from where the handles rub on the walls. Oh, well, a coat of paint will cover it all. They really have a lot of fun, and they are very careful not to run over Brooklynn. Hope you enjoy the new pictures.

Winter morning
Icy morning
We had a "mini ice storm" last night. It paled drastically to the one we had 10 years ago. As you can see, the birch trees out back are laid over with the weight of the ice. Even the little wind gauge that Ken has out back was covered. The roads are covered and I'm sure the traveling is very slow this morning. The wind is supposed to pick up and be quite blustery today. That will either knock off the ice, or blow the trees over. If we lose our power, we are all set with the generator. Afer the ice storm of 1998, we learned that several things we like to do require electricity, so we made provisions for that.
