Our Halloween Goblins

Our goblins came to trick or treat for Halloween! What great costumes!
Brooklynn really knows how to pick her outfit!
Dawson wanted to be a cowboy, since he had the hat, so we added to that, and he made a great sheriff.
Kloe's aunt helped her with her costume. She was the cutest pirate I had ever seen.
And Lexy was Lexy. I foresee Corey having some interesting days at his home when she becomes a teenager. They all were excited and ready to go trick or treating. The snow and cold didn't slow them down at all.

October changes

I was able to grab this shot Friday morning- it was frosty, and foggy, and the sun was just coming up. It didn't last long, so I was fortunate to capture it when I did.

I am always amazed at the colors in our burning bush (aptly named) each fall. When all the trees have dropped their colors, these remain for weeks after. Like the daffodils in the spring, it's nice to have some color when most is brown and gray.

End of the month

The end of October seems to come way too soon. And it usually means colder weather is just around the corner. I know it happens every year, but I am just not ready for it. This year I hung out some Boo Buckets (old Happy Meal containers that I held on to) and some pumpkins on the front porch. The grand kids thought it was great, and wanted to take one home with them.

This is my Autumn Joy. A lovely plant that offers some rich color when most of the trees have lost theirs. This morning we awoke to snow caps on the blossoms. It just isn't right. It takes away from the "joy" part, don't you think?

And here we have the little pumpkin sporting the same cap as the Autumn Joy. There is a part of me that wonders why I live here, where it so cold, and stays for so long. But later on today, when those 4 little goblins come trick or treating, I will know my answer. I will post some pictures of them later. Happy Halloween, and Welcome Winter, too!

Breathtaking views....

As we started out for home, we had to stop and try to capture the true beauty that is around us. We live in an area with no view, so to stand in one spot and be able to see so much, is just breathtaking for me. This doesn't really capture the color, but hopefully you can grasp the depth and distance that one can see.
Rangeley Lake and all it's surroundings, certainly makes for a postcard picture. So thankful we had the chance to take in the splendid sights.

Saddleback Wedding

We ventured to the western mountains of Maine for a gorgeous fall wedding. We awoke Saturday morning to this visitor right outside our front door. It was a bit confused and looking for it's mother, but it stayed around for a few minutes before rambling off into the woods. I saw a total of 6 moose! Don't think I have seen that many in my entire life!
Gavin had the pleasure of riding with the father of the groom in this classic 1930 LaSalle. It was too cold for the bride and her party to ride all the way to the church, so they were picked up a bit closer to the church.
Our dear friends, the parents of the bride.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Johnston, accompanied by her mother and Joan, a friend.
Gavin and Jen....do you suppose they got any ideas from this weekend?Ken and me, in front of this huge, beautiful, trio of fireplaces. The place was lovely, in a perfect fall setting in the mountains of Maine. Just wonderful.

Dean and Becky! And Mackenzie and John, two lovely young friends of ours. Delightful weekend. Great friends, lots and lots of love.

On a personal note....

Today I reached a milestone for me. I have officially, on the weight watcher scales, lost 40 pounds. I have struggled with being over weight just about all my life. When I met Ken and fell in love, I dropped some weight, and weighed the least I ever was (in my adult life.) After gaining weight year after year, to a total of 100 pounds in 30 years, I decided my health HAS to be more important to me. My priority HAS to be getting the weight off. I guess I never made myself be the top priority. With a marriage, kids, jobs (the one I get paid for and the one I do when I leave the paid job), and now grandchildren, I never put me first. After much thought, and many pounds, I decided to join WW again, but make it work. And it does! Forty pounds in 32 weeks. Awesome! I am on my way. I have always considered my weight my one failure in life. Well, I am working on no failures! No more! I know I still have more to lose, and I will, but for now, I feel awesome. I can buy clothes in the regular department, not WOMEN'S or PLUS sizes. Now if I could only figure out how to make my feet smaller.....anyway. I experienced a great feeling today, and I don't want it to fade. I hope the determination stays with me, and the support continues. I can do this!
