Montana, Sept. 13, 2014

Day 4 of this amazing vacation. Left Havre headed due east on good old Route 2. Yes the same Route 2 that crosses in Newport. Got a shot of the old and the new techniques for grain elevators.

Love their slogan, "Get lost in Montana." It would be easy to do, I am sure. Also, since we forgot our camera yesterday, took a picture of the Triple Dog Brewery that we visited yesterday. Nothing fancy, but really good beer.

Again, we are amazed at the miles and miles and miles of open grain fields. Not acres, but miles, as far as the eye can see in all directions.

Do you see that little dark cluster in the middle towards the right? This is what it was.

All along the way, scattered here and there, were these farms, or a group of grain storage silos.

My faithful driver.....

This was the largest group of silos we saw,

46 of them, all in a row. And those little white ones on the end?

Huge containers, out in the middle of nowhere.

More of the same, for almost 100 miles.

This one actually had the train cars ready to be loaded. About 70 percent of Montana's grain comes from this "Golden Triangle." I also read that 90 % of the country's mustard seed is grown in the region, too.

We pulled off for a minute to get a shot of the Sweet Grass Hills that we drove towards most of the way. They are majestic mountains, but they are named hills. As for all the areas out here, there is a native American significance attached to everything, after all, it was theirs to begin with.

In the town of Chester, which I think is just a name on the map, there was this interesting old brick building, kind of standing out from all the other wood structures.

As I was going through the pictures to do my post, I noticed a sign on the building.

I just wonder how much business they do? Nice looking sign, wouldn't you agree?

After another 20 miles, all with grain fields around us, we finally saw this.

Just had to take a picture, and send a note to my friend.

Arrived early at the gorgeous motel, and they were so kind, not only letting us in early, but upgrading our room. This was our "down" day, laundry and such, so having a nice suite was a pleasant and welcomed surprise.

Lunch was low keyed in the room, with a bit of local flare. Good old Moose Drool.

Early night for us, and early morning. Hoping to get to St Mary in time to catch one of the Red Bus Tours to take us to the continental divide on Going to the Sun road. Should have some great photos for tomorrows post.
