Well, only eleven months and it's Christmas! I can't say that I am ready, but given 10 more months, I probably will have a pretty good handle on it. I'd like to think that I could have it all ready in about 8 months, but I don't want to set my goals too high. Just sets me up for failure, and there is already way too much kicking you in the head, so lets not add to that.
The grandchildren were here today for a few hours, and as usual, we had fun. Brooklynn has learned to use the mouse and is able to move the cursor and click on the "music" button on the program we have for them. So, she clicks and clicks and plays the music over and over and over. Of course, she sings along, so it isn't all that bad. This was a huge step for her, and us, since now we don't have to be right by her side all the time. Growing. They do it right behind your back.
Dawson, of course, wanted to open and close the garage door, but with the temperature hovering around zero most of the day, we didn't want the door to the house open and closing, so we had to tell him no. He found other things to entertain himself, but he really wanted to open that door. He was watching for his father to return so he could ride his "new" snowmobile. It's a little Kitty Kat, just the right size for him. His father made a path for them to go on, since it won't go in the fluffy snow. Dawson rides around and around and around. What a hoot to watch him. He's only four, but he's loving every loop!
Lexy was not feeling all that great today. She complained about her ear hurting, and wanted some cotton for it. That didn't help much, but making a bed on the couch, a good movie, and some juice and popcorn did seem to make it all a bit better for a while. She stayed here longer than the other 2, and I took her home later. She was not feeling any better, and now her shoes suddenly became too small for her feet. She couldn't wear them home. (They were way too small when she got here.) Any way, fun day, lots of chatter and noise, and lots of toys on the floor, but as always, a wonderful visit.
Ken and I purchased a Wii this weekend, with Gavin's help. We have been bowling quite a bit, and Ken is even golfing and chasing cows. What a riot! Can't wait for the Thursday buddies to have a try at bowling. We don't even have to go the the lanes, rent used shoes, and handle balls that half of Newport has used. I think it's going to prove to be a great purchase.
It's been cold again, near or below zero several nights. I really love summer, and my shorts and sandals, and especially the pool. I hope I can wear my shorts and sandals soon. I hope I can not see my breath when I go outside, soon. I hope I can dig out the bathing suits and towels soon. Soon is a very relative word. Soon is not 11 months away, but hopefully only 4 months away. I can really set my sights on 4 months! It's going to be a long winter, isn't it?
