Big Weekend

This was taken in Belfast on Friday. It was a wonderful day. My friends took me to a wonderful yarn shop, and then out to dinner. As usual, a fun evening.

Saturday, we celebrated Madden's third birthday. The kids had the best time in the bounce tent, making bubbles, and drawing on the driveway with chalk. Just a perfect day for a party.

Alexys and her father went to a Daddy Daughter dance...in style. Along with several other Daddies and daughters, they rode in style to the dance in a Hummer limo. Of course no evening is complete with a take out of Chicken Nuggets from McDonalds! The driver had quite a time making the corner for them to place their order. I had the chance to help Lexy get dressed and ready for the "really big dance." It's something I thoroughly enjoyed and hope I have a chance to do it again.

Alexys turns 5!

These are pictures from the party today. Lexy loved the princess doll cake that I made for her. The kids enjoyed decorating visors with pretty foam stickers. Brooklynn especially loved them all, and carried three of them around most of the afternoon. Izabel and Alexys colored, and Madden and Dawson cut and colored some papers, too. Alivia was just as cute as could be, even smiled big for the camera. It was a great afternoon, and Alexys enjoyed all the company and their gifts. She is growing up way too fast for me. I was so proud of her, remembering her thank you's for all the guests. I cherish these days with her, as I know only too soon, she will be grown, and time with Mammie will be scarce. Happy Birthday, Lexy!

Nice outfit

Does this look like a happy kid, or what? Bunny ears, yogurt cheeks, and a smile a mile wide. He and his Papa were reading his favorite book, Barnyard Dance. He has a great sense of humor, and enjoys a good laugh.

This is an old dance outfit that belonged to Alexys' second cousin, Sarah. The top was very itchy, so she put her shirt on first, an that helped. Then she HAD to put the boots on to make the outfit complete. I'm not sure how ballet slippers could complete an outfit any more than these rubber rain boots do.

This was Brooklynn enjoying the day on Easter. She pretty much wears this smile most of the time, unless her brother does something to tick her off, then watch out. Dawson seems to think that Brooklynn is the root of anything that isn't right. Blame it on Brooklynn.

Today Alexys turned 5 years old. I woke up and thought about 5 years ago, a little after 6am, when she was born. She was quite purple, but loved her at first sight, and still do. She is becoming a lovely little girl, advancing way too fast for her Mammie. We'll make a dolly princess cake for her this weekend.

Easter Sunday

Here are some pictures of our day. We went to Cyndie and Gary's for brunch, and the kids hunted to eggs and treats. Couldn't get all 6 kids at once, so we did 2 at a time. They really had a great time.

Then we came back home, and the bunny had left some eggs here, too. Lexy was telling Papa about a fox that had gotten the baby sitter's cat. He showed her what they looked like in the book.

Papa reads a story to Brooklynn. She likes Barnyard Dance as much as her brother does. We even witnessed her walking!! She really can walk. Alivia also is taking some steps, too. No more babies- they are growing up fast.

These are the socks that I knit while on vacation! I finished the toes this morning and wore them today! I am so proud of myself. Can't wait to start another pair.

We got home yesterday from a week in Florida, and just had to see the kids for a few minutes. Brooklynn is changing on a daily basis, it seems. She is going to have curly hair, and lots of it by the looks. She still prefers crawling to walking, but I'm sure that will change one of these days.

Dawson looks so much more grown up after becoming 3. He dressed himself today, shirt and pants on backwards, and boots on the wrong feet, but he did it himself. His vocabulary is growing tremendously, and you can actually understand alot of what he is saying.

Alexys wasn't feeling great tonight, she had a tummy ache. She's quite excited about her birthday that is coming up. She wants a new dress, and tights, and shoes. Seems like we should be able to take care of that for her. Hard to believe she will be 5 years old! Where did those years go?

Some new pictures of the kids. They stopped by last night for a quick visit. Well, long enough for Lexy to get the black boots on. Dawson is changing quickly as you can see by the picture. He finally has a neck to hold up that big head. He recently got a much needed hair cut, too. Brooklynn is a Daddy's girl. She wouldn't let him get out of her sight last night. She loves looking at books, too. We'll miss them lots next week.

Snow, snow, and did I mention, snow?

Here are some pictures I took this morning on my way to work. It really doesn't do it justice. There are some places where they have moved the snow with a bucket loader and made snowbanks that are 10-15 feet high! The picture of the house with the lamp post shows the snow up about half way on the post. There is at least 2 feet of snow on the ground in the fields. There is a lot of snow, more than we've had here in a long, long time. Hope you enjoy the pictures, and can get an idea of what we are dealing with here.
